What Counts as a Dental Emergency?

Pain is a sign that something’s wrong. Call us right away if you experience:

  • A sudden, severe toothache
  • A knocked-out or broken tooth
  • Swelling, abscess, or signs of infection
  • Bleeding that won’t stop
  • A lost crown, filling, or broken denture
  • Jaw pain or trauma from an accident

If you’re unsure whether your situation is urgent, call our office. We’ll guide you on what to do next and schedule you as soon as possible.

What to Do in a Dental Emergency

Quick action can make all the difference. If you're facing a dental emergency, follow these steps while you contact our office:

  • Call us immediately. We’ll talk you through what to do next and work to get you in for a same-day visit.
  • Gently rinse your mouth with warm water to clear away blood or debris.
  • Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek to ease pain and reduce swelling.
  • If a tooth is knocked out, handle it by the crown (not the root), rinse gently, and store it in milk or saliva until you get here.
  • Save any broken tooth pieces and bring them to your appointment.
  • Take over-the-counter pain relievers as needed, but don’t place aspirin directly on your gums.
  • Control bleeding by applying gentle pressure with clean gauze for 10–15 minutes.
  • Avoid hard or sticky foods and don’t try to push a loose tooth back into place.

Our team is here to help you through it. Calmly, quickly, and with the expert care you need.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

We accept most major dental plans and offer flexible payment options. We’ll help you understand your benefits and make treatment manageable.

What if I’m anxious about dental care?

We get it. Many emergency patients haven’t seen a dentist in years. Our judgment-free team makes you feel safe, supported, and calm, with sedation available when needed.

Can I be seen today?

Yes, we reserve time each day for dental emergencies. Call early, and we’ll do everything we can to see you the same day.

How much will treatment cost?

Emergency exams are just $39 for new patients. If additional treatment is needed, we’ll walk you through your options and costs before proceeding.

Is this a dental emergency, or can it wait?

If you’re in pain, swollen, bleeding, or have lost or damaged a tooth or restoration, call us right away. We’ll help you decide whether immediate care is needed.

How much does IV sedation cost?

Costs vary depending on the length and complexity of your procedure. We'll review pricing and financing options during your consultation.

Can I eat or drink before my visit?

You’ll need to fast for at least 6 hours before your appointment, including water. We’ll give you full instructions ahead of time.

Will I be unconscious?

No. You’ll be in a deeply relaxed “twilight” state, but still conscious and able to respond. Most patients remember little to nothing about the procedure.

How long does it take to wear off?

Sedation effects begin to fade after the procedure, but you’ll feel drowsy for several hours. Plan to rest the rest of the day.

Is IV sedation safe?

Yes. IV sedation is extremely safe when administered by trained professionals. We monitor you closely during your visit and review your health history beforehand to ensure it’s the right fit.

We Take Your Insurance

Focus on your smile, we’ll worry about the details. Our team will review your plan, explain your options, and make sure you know what to expect before treatment begins.
