What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a cutting-edge orthodontic treatment that utilizes clear, removable aligners to gradually shift your teeth into their desired positions. These aligners are custom-made to fit snugly over your teeth, making them virtually invisible to others.

Invisalign offers a comfortable and convenient alternative to traditional braces, allowing you to achieve your dream smile with minimal disruption to your daily life.

Is Invisalign® Better Than Braces?

Your preferences and individual lifestyle will determine what options are best for you, but Invisalign® offers several noticeable advantages:

  • Aesthetics: Nearly invisible aligners, so you can confidently smile through your treatment.
  • Comfort: Smooth, plastic aligners without metal brackets or wires that poke at the inside of your mouth.
  • Convenience: Removable for eating, brushing, and flossing; no dietary restrictions, and no struggle to brush around metal brackets!
  • Customization: Tailored specifically to your teeth so you know you’re getting the smile you want.

However, braces might be more suitable for complex dental issues. Dr. Saluja will help you find the best solution for your orthodontic needs.

Alternatives to Invisalign®

Other orthodontic options include:

  • Traditional Braces: Effective for a wide range of alignment issues.
  • Ceramic Braces: Less noticeable than metal braces.
  • Lingual Braces: Placed behind the teeth, out of sight.

What Is the Process for Getting Invisalign®?

  1. Consultation: Dr. Saluja evaluates your teeth and discusses your goals.
  2. Custom Plan: We create a unique treatment plan with 3D imaging technology. We’ll keep you informed of everything you need to know for an effective treatment.
  3. Receiving Your Aligners: Custom aligners are made based on your plan. You’ll receive instructions on how to wear them, how to clean them, and when to change sets.
  4. Regular Check-Ups: Periodic appointments to monitor progress. We must make sure your treatment is moving properly and safely.

How Long Do I Need to Wear Invisalign® Retainers?

After treatment, you'll wear retainers to maintain your new smile. These retainers will be worn similarly to the clear aligners but without changing the location of your teeth. The duration for retainer wear varies, but typically they are worn full-time for a few months, then only at night indefinitely. This step is crucial to maintaining the new smile you worked so hard for!

Invisalign® FAQs

How long does the treatment take?

Average treatment is 12 to 18 months, but it varies depending on the complexity of your case. Dr. Saluja can give you a more accurate timeline as he develops your treatment plan.

Is Invisalign® painful?

Some discomfort is normal as teeth move, but generally less than with braces.

Can I eat with my aligners in?

It's recommended to remove aligners while eating. Clear aligners are not designed to be used for chewing or biting and may break.

How much does Invisalign® cost?

Costs vary; insurance may cover a portion.

Can I move to my next set of Invisalign® aligners early?

It isn’t recommended to move to your next set of aligners earlier than instructed. We know you’re eager to get that new smile, but rushing the process runs the risk of causing permanent damage to your teeth; common issues from rushed treatments are tooth shrinkage, unstable teeth, and even permanent teeth falling out. Keeping with your schedule and regular office visits can prevent these problems from happening to you!

What is the minimum age for using Invisalign®?

Once your permanent teeth have fully grown in, you should be eligible for Invisalign® treatments. Dr. Saluja will let you know if you’re ready! Invisalign® is a great option for teens and adults.
